Intro

What is Sociology? Sociology is seeing eye of society. Then, what we see in society? Someone seen a lot of thing in society, but also someone seen nothing. What makes this difference? It is 'Theory'
 

Importance of Theory

I want talk about importance of theory. Especially, when doing practice analysis of social structure. Clear theory is very important. If you're analysis of social problems, and you want analysis based on rational rather than emotional, you need have to a clear theory. If you got clear theory, it will be provided to help doesn't being fall out into extreme error.

 

Wiki saying, 'Durkheim's work also illustrates the importance of theory: without theories to explain the relationship between concepts, we would not be able to understand cause and effect relationships in social life.' so what is Durkheim's work? Durkheim was explained a social phenomenon, suicide, and employed both data and theory to offer an explanation. 
 

Durkheim's work is a typical model which social research. In order to analyze social issues or understand beside you, it is necessary to employ theory to draw the connections between seemingly disparate concepts.
 

Study on 'Macro-sociological' 

There are many theories in sociology. And these some theories are prominent because they are quite good at explaining social life. As you're imagine, it is Functionalism and Conflict Theory(of course there have another theory, like 'Symbolic Interactionism'. but my review is focusing to 'Macro-sociology'. so unfortunately, this review don't talk about 'Micro-sociology').
 

These two theories be similar to pizza and chicken. It difficult decision, 'what is the best?'. Therefore, i will discussed about each theory rather than the merits of the two theories.
 

Functionalism

For the balance of society! Summary of Functionalism 

Functionalism is focusing the balance of society. There is a similar aspect of Darwin's theory of evolution(regardless of his intentions). The central concern of Functionalism is explaining the apparent stability and internal cohesion of societies that are necessary to ensure their continued existence over time. The Functionalism is believed the social institutions are functionally integrated to form a stable system and that a change in one institution will precipitate a change in other institutions.
 

My thoughts about Functionalism 

The Functionalism is explains the relatively large portion of society. I recognize that this part. However, the limits of Functionalism is conservatism includes. This idea hazard, ignores the weak person and give excuse of strong person indulgence without justice. This is why I can criticize this theory. I personally think that this risk is the evil in society.
 

Asking to Functionalism 

I want ask to Functionalism, 'Social stability is more valuable than victim tears? is that justice?'

 

 

"Why there uprising? because the society is to much stable?"

 

Conflict Theory 

For social equality! Summary of Conflict Theory 

The opposite of functionalism - Conflict Theory is focusing the equality of society. Conflict Theory discuss that society is not best understood as a complex system striving for equilibrium but rather as a competition. And also society is made up of individuals competing for limited resources. like money or something else. In fact, Conflict Theory was started in part to illustrate the limitations of Functionalism. So the Conflict Theory is have many parts of the Functionalism opposite. However, Conflict Theory is unique and distinct theory dissimilar to Functionalism.
 

My thoughts about Conflict Theory 

Social Conflict Theory was started to find the cause of the society problem somewhere. And i like this point. I believe the sociology have to use to solve social problems. In that sense, the Conflict Theory is fully consistent with my hope. However, it's not always right. Community inclusion a lot of thing, it's not just only composed by conflict. Therefore conflict is not enough to explain to society. And struggle sometimes be torn society. It means that, the conflict theory is not perfect.
 

Asking to Conflict Theory 

I want ask to Conflict Theory, 'Somalia will always be a struggle. So they are happy?'
