Introduction to Sociology/Sociological Methods

1. Summary
In the era of ancient philosophy, Aristotle studied planetary state and poetry with the same forms, and Plato mixed geometrical evidences with his demonstration on the state of original knowledge. Because there is no difference between the liberal arts of mathematics and the study of history, poetry or politics. A scientific method or process is considered necessary in order to collect evidence that can be proven on the basis of new research and knowledge of the scientific process or scientific method. The positivist approach to social science seeks to explain and predict social phenomena, often employing a quantitative approach. But unlike the physical sciences, sociology also often seek simply to understand social phenomena. Sociologist suggest characterization, hypothesis, prediction, experiment for explanation about social phenomena.
2. Opinion
I know that philosophy is foundation of all learning, but the fact that sociology is also equivalent is very exciting. Also characterization, hypothesis, prediction, experiment as investigation of social phenomena is relatively straightforward. Because I learned that at high school. But the rest are too difficult.

  1. I think philosophy is the base of every learning. I think it is good way for us to think about how to apply philosophy with sociology.
