Sociological Methods

Hypothesis Development

Variables are measurable phenomena whose values can change. The value of a development variable depends on the value of the independent variable. There is no relationship, then the value of the dependent variable does not depend on the value of the independent variable.

Prediction

A useful hypothesis will enable predictions, beductive reasoning, that can be experimentally assessed.
Predictions refer to experimental designs with a currently unknown outcomes. A prediction differs from a consequence.

Experiment

Once a prediction is made, an experiment is designed to test it. Scientists assume an attitude of openness and accountability on the part of those conducting an experiment. The experiment's integrity should be ascertained by the introduction of a control. Two virtually identical experiments are run, in only one of which the factor being tested in varied. This serves to further isolate any causal phenomena. Once an experiment is complete, a researcher determines whether the results gathered are what was predicted.  Thus, while the true experiment is ideally suited for the performance of science, especially because it is the best method for deriving causal relationships, other methods of hypothesis testing are commonly employed in the social science.

I think sociology is just complicate learning. But after I read the wikibooks, I got some new facts. First thing is sociology hypothesis have interrelationship between dependent variable and independent variable. And sociology is proof by various experiments.
