Introduction to Sociology/Sociological Theory

Summary

sociologists develop theories to explain social phenomena. Theories of sociology that has been developed are a lot, but there is a famous theory among them.
*Structural-Functionalism
to explain society by means to meet biological needs. and social institutions are made by social needs. but this theory has been criticized because it focuses intently on social order and equilibrium in society.
*Conflict Theory
societies come into conflict with continuously other societies due to natural inequality of resources. but the primary limitation is that it overlooks the stability of societies.
*Symbolic Interactionism
this theory is a theoretical approach to understanding the relationship between humans and society.
*Role Theory
role theory is micro-oriented approach to understanding social life that also incorporates the more structural elements of society. but this theory has a hard time explaining social deviance.
*Social Constructionism
this theory aims to discover the ways that individuals and groups create their perceived reality.
*Integration Theory
some sociologists have been taking advantage of integrationist approach. this theory combine micro- and macro-level theories to provide a comprehensive understanding of social behavior.

Items learned

I was able to touch the various theories of looking at the social phenomenon. especially, The use of the word "theoretical" to describe the symbolic interactionism is interesting. "theoretical" has the meaning of 'ideological'. Normally, when you think about symbolic Interactionism, we look at the relationship between human and human. However, the word "theoretical" seems to express this way is difficult. the points of view micro-level theories are too much and varied. but I thought that this point of view is always necessary in order to look at the society more accurately. it is very irony.

Question

We seem only to learn at all times. these theory have been recognized by many people. but I don't know famous theory of explanation of the social phenomenon get the sympathy of many people.
