Introduction to Sociology/Demography
Introduction
Demography is the study of human population dynamics.
It encompasses the study of the size, structure and distribution of populations, and how populations change over time due to births, deaths, migration, and aging. Demographic analysis can relate to whole societies or to smaller groups defined by criteria such as education, religion, or ethnicity.
Why study demography?
Before explaining sociological phenomena, sociologists should compile a demographic
factor for possible explanations. Demographic analysis is very useful means that can explain a number of sociological phenomena.
History
The study of human populations has its roots. Censuses, another demographic tool, were instituted for primarily political purposes. The development of demographic calculations started in the 18th century. Also most modern censuses began in the late 18th century.
My opinion
I think Demography is very important in the study of sociology especially today.
When study about urban or rural area, it is very useful tool
