For this reason, the Government of Jordan amended the law that defines not sentence a heavy penalty, such as the death penalty to those who have the honor killings. They also remove the legal that provisions which can justify honor killings. However, in the Islamic world, hundreds of women have dying with honor killings per year still.
After the actual report of honor killings has been executed for the first time at the Geneva United Nations Commission on Human Rights in 2000, the campaign against honor killings have taken place worldwide mainly in private organizations.
