What is a family?

 

 Family is the most basic unit of society. There are so many variations of "family" today that it is hard to define what, exactly, a family is. Generally, we think of a family as a domestic group of people, or a number of domestic groups linked through descent from a common ancestor, marriage, or adoption. But society increasingly accepts a number of variations on traditional family forms. Adopted children or pet, be considered as a family. Each of the above example differs from the traditional form of family.  What many people consider a family is not the only family form. families are diverse in both form and function.

Cultural diversity and structure of the family

 Cultural diversity of the family is based on the structure of the family. Structure of the family is dependent on the relationship between family members. Form of family there are various in the world. One prevalent form is polygamy, which broadly refers to any form of marriage in which a person has more than one spouse. Historically, polygamy has been practiced as polygyny, as polyandry, or, less commonly, as polygamy. The unusual case, there is endogamy. Endogamy appears mainly in the society that is isolated. This is an example of a family structure formation by the environment.

The function of family

 The primary function of the family is to reproduce society, both biologically, through procreation, and socially, through socialization.  Family functions can be divided into the perspective of child and the perspective of perent.  From the perspective of children, the family is a family of orientation. the family functions to locate children socially, and plays a major role in their socialization. From the point of view of the parent, the family is a family of procreation. the family functions to produce and socialize children. In some cultures marriage imposes upon women the obligation to bear children.

Opinion and question

 I found that social structure and form of family, culture, the environment have a close relationship.  However, the body is dealing mainly in family system of Western.
I want to know more about the traditional family institution of South Korea.and impact.
