Stratification

Stratification
Stratification is the division of something, especially society, into different classes or layers. Stratification is associated with inequality, including economic inequality, racial, ethnic inequality, gender inequality, and so on.

Origins of Inequality and private property
In hunter/gather societies, People collected their food for their needs. and their needs are almost fulfilled. and surplus of goods is almost none. so, there was little inequality.
In horticultural/pastoralist societies, people settled down, produced food. this led to surplus of goods. as a result, some people in group accumulated goods such as foods, weapons. for the first time, inequality is emerged.

The persistence of inequality
why inequality is continues in society? first of all, the upper class protect the system of inequality. they are already possess the means of production, wealth and power. these powerful people influence society to keep their property. second, culture justified inequality. people learned justified perspective of inequality. for example, the upper class is more talented, superior, than you. the reason that the lower class is belong to the lower class is because they are lazy, don't try hard.

my opinion

  2. In my opinion, to fix problem of inequality, the role of government is very important. Government should protect people from disease and guarantee the minimum of life as human(human rights). At the same time, government do not invade basic or minimize invasion basic rights.
