Socialization is preparing people to adapt in society. Socialization is not evaluated or judged because each states’ socializations are different like each cultures are. When early in life, primary socialization takes place and secondary socialization dose though it occurs whole life. Both socialization are different in content, context, and response. Socialization involves interaction with friends, siblings, and co-workers although it learned in school or home generally. Because not all socialization is perfect, there is a process: resocialization. To successful, total institutions also exist. The most representative examples are prisons, mental hospitals, and jailhouses. When the process of resocialization, coercion used usually. Without socialization by neglect, cruel treatment, and carelessness, children may have feral even exhibit behaviors like animals. The children missed socialization when critical period need it(even cure) throughout their lives.
There are so many socialization theories. Some of these are symbolic interationism, role theory, reinforcement theory, and internalization theory. Long and Hadden suggested conception of socialization for lack of specificity and need of clearness. To accomplish this, they suggest new understanding also. It refers socialization is a process new members are accepted in group. Other researchers studied different children’s social class in how parents raise them(conformity or creativity). And there are someone who studied influence that people of impending death affect community. Another studied mutual relation about IQ and tract.
Socialization is so familiar to me. And it occurs everywhere, everytime, any form. I think the most important period to socialization is childhood. Like werewolf boy case, it is essential in proper period. also resocialization is important with an aging society. I mean like vocational training not prison. And I’m interesting relation of parents’ raising and children’s society class.
I wonder how socialize the socialization missed feral child, and more unique examples about socialization.
