Lookism Discrimination : With the Movie

The most impressive movie I have seen is 200 pounds beauty (Hard to be a beauty). I saw it about 7 years ago. It has been so many years since I saw this movie, but it made me think a lot. In 200 pounds beauty, the main character was a closet singer who sings behind the stage. She was very ugly and fat so she could not show herself to anyone else. Later after she was compared her appearance with the other singer, she decided to have a plastic surgery. The surgery was successful and she became very pretty. No one recognized her and a new life started from then. Not only could she sing on the stage but also the reaction of people was different from her past days. She did not have to hide behind the stage anymore and she became a famous star in a short period of time. Although she had the same ability of singing before and after the surgery, her situation was completely changed just because of her appearance.

This movie is satirizing lookism discrimination. In our society many people judge others by their appearance on these days. As anonymity increases we dont have so much attention to each other. Also we dont have long enough time to know about each other because we move often and a lot for better jobs and environment. These conditions lead us to judge others quickly by the way they look. However I think we must overcome this circumstance. We should not discriminate against anyone based on looks. Everyone has their own characteristics and we have to respect each of them. I hope a world that all the people who are capable make their dreams come true with no regard to their appearance!
